Reading the blood pressure monitor's display with the camera

Is there an app that reads the screen of my blood pressure monitor?

Yes. Blood Pressure – My Heart for Android can fill in a reading from your monitor's display: after a measurement you point the phone's camera at the monitor, and the app reads the systolic, diastolic and pulse values and fills them in for you to check before you save. The scanning happens on your phone; the image is not sent anywhere. If the pulse is not clearly readable, the app leaves it empty for you to type in. The scanner is part of the free version.

Which monitors it works with

The scanner reads the digital display of a home blood pressure monitor. It does not connect to the monitor over Bluetooth; it only reads what the screen shows, so it also works with monitors that have no app of their own.

Always check the values

Lighting, reflections and the angle of the display affect what the camera sees, so the values are shown for you to confirm or correct before they are saved. You can also type a reading in or dictate it by voice.

The monitor measures, the app records

The app does not measure blood pressure itself. It records the values that your certified blood pressure monitor displays.

Using an iPhone? The same developer publishes a separate app for iOS: Blood Pressure: Health+ on the App Store

This app helps you record and track blood pressure readings taken with a certified blood pressure monitor. It does not measure blood pressure or heart rate, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. Always consult your doctor before making health-related decisions.
