Find answers to common questions about using the Blood Pressure app
The Blood Pressure app is a digital diary that helps you track and manage your blood pressure readings. You manually enter your systolic, diastolic, pulse, and weight measurements from your certified blood pressure monitor. The app then organizes this data into interactive charts, statistics, and generates professional PDF reports for your doctor. It's designed to be simple and user-friendly, especially for seniors and those managing hypertension.
No, this app cannot and does not measure blood pressure or pulse. It's designed to help you log and track readings taken from a certified blood pressure monitor. The app is a tracking and analysis tool, not a medical device. Always use a proper blood pressure monitor for measurements and consult your healthcare provider for diagnosis and treatment.
Open the app and go to the DATA tab. Enter your systolic and diastolic values using either the manual keyboard or carousel. You can also add your pulse, weight, and tags for context. Click ADD to save your measurement. After adding your first reading, the HISTORY and GRAPHS menus will unlock. Add three measurements to unlock the STATISTICS menu.
Go to the additional menu and select User. You can add multiple family members by entering their name, birth date, and whether they're diabetic. This is important because diabetic patients and those over 60 have different hypertension ranges according to medical standards. Each user gets their own data, statistics, and reports.
Tags are short descriptions like 'left arm', 'right arm', 'sitting', 'laying', or 'arrhythmia' that help you categorize your measurements. You can use built-in tags or create custom ones. Tags help you filter data in HISTORY, GRAPHS, and STATISTICS menus. For example, you can filter to see only measurements taken while sitting or only from your left arm.
Go to REMINDERS in the additional menu. Set the exact time you want to be notified, select which days of the week the reminder should appear, and choose your preferred reminder type. This helps ensure you never forget to take your measurements, especially important for those on regular monitoring schedules.
Click the 'eye' icon in HISTORY, GRAPHS, or STATISTICS menus to access filters. You can filter by time of day, period, category, tags, and additional conditions like low blood pressure or hypertension. Use the 'plus' icon to create custom filters. The MERGE FILTERS option lets you combine multiple filters for more precise results.
The 'Calm Down' feature provides guided breathing exercises to help you relax before taking blood pressure measurements. This reduces the 'white coat effect' (elevated readings due to anxiety) and ensures more accurate readings. It's especially helpful for those who feel nervous about medical measurements.
Go to EXPORT DATA in the additional menu. Choose 'Report' for a comprehensive PDF with statistics, charts, and measurements, or 'Raw data' for CSV format. Set your desired time period, preview the report, then share it via email, WhatsApp, Google Drive, or print it. These reports are perfect for medical consultations and help your doctor make informed treatment decisions.
MAP (Mean Arterial Pressure) is the average blood pressure during a single cardiac cycle, calculated as (2 × diastolic + systolic) ÷ 3. PP (Pulse Pressure) is the difference between systolic and diastolic pressure, representing the force generated by each heartbeat. Normal pulse pressure is around 40 mmHg. Abnormal values may indicate heart conditions that should be discussed with your doctor.
JNC7 (Joint National Committee 7) and ESH/ESC (European Society of Hypertension/European Society of Cardiology) are different medical standards for categorizing blood pressure. ESH/ESC uses a 3-grade scale for hypertension, while JNC7 has different thresholds. You can switch between standards in SETTINGS → CATEGORIES STANDARD. Each measurement is color-coded according to the selected standard.
You can switch between dark and light themes by going to SETTINGS in the additional menu and clicking the gear icon. For the DATA menu, you can choose between vertical (scrollable) and compact (tabbed) layouts using the chocolate bar icon. You can also adjust font size in settings to make text larger for better readability.
Your data is stored locally on your phone. To back up data to Google Drive, go to Data backup in the more tab, enable it, and select your backup preferences. This allows you to restore data when changing devices or recover lost information. Your data is never shared with third parties unless you explicitly share reports with your doctor.
If you have Google Drive backup enabled, simply go to Data backup in the more tab, enable it on your new device, and hit 'Restore backup'. All your data will be merged to the new device. You can also import data from CSV files or Google Health Connect if you've granted permission. This ensures you never lose your measurement history.
Yes, your health data is completely private and secure. All measurements are stored locally on your device and are never sent to third parties. The only data sharing occurs when you explicitly export reports or use Google Drive backup (which you control). The app complies with Health Connect Permissions Policy and follows strict data protection guidelines.
Click the 'x' button in the bottom right corner to access premium plans. You can choose between one-time payment, monthly subscription, or try for free. Premium features include ad removal, custom report periods, and additional customization options. This helps support the app's continued development and maintenance.
